A co-worker of mine has volunteered to go to Kuwait to provide advance and long-term logistical support to our military forces headed there. He volunteered on Monday and ships out Sunday. Today I dropped by his office made a private presentation to him. Along with my blessings he will be accompanied by Bura in the form of a Chiruwa AK with a carved finger-grip handle.

Somehow I feel that the HI blessing will accompany him in that AK.

At worst, a VERY thoughtful gift.

At best, might save his life.

Great job.

I have to admit my motives are not completely unselfish. Five years ago, when I held the job he now has, I was offered the opportunity to deploy to Bosnia in a similar role. Family commitments required that I decline the offer, and although I know it was the right decision, I've always felt as though I missed an opportunity.

Perhaps I'm vicariously making up for that? I don't know. What I do know is the chiruwa will be in the right place.

Sorry, still sounds unselfish to me. Satisfaction does NOT = selfish.

Good on you Raghorn, a very thoughtful way to show your friend you care. A good blade can be a source of comfort when you're far from home.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts, all. I'd ask that you direct them his way instead of mine.

It's a 16.5" horn handled, one of two that came up in July. I think Semper got the other one?

You are a very honorable man. Too bad that comparing the population of HI forum and the general population, the good guys are very much out-numbered.

You all don't have to pay any attention to what I say. I'm just going by what I see but, I don't get out and about much so my opion is probably biased a good bit. :)

I think it goes like this:

I could not love thee, Dear, so well, loved I not honor more.

The English neo classical experts can correct me.

Yep, and it is my favorite K! Just feels right for some reason. :)

I just got an email this morning from Kuwait. Here's a pic of Mr. Pete Summerton from the border, with regards to all.

Here's the rest of his team. Note the ages, these guys are mostly civilians.
You're talking about all of those young-looking guys behind him, right?

I'd feel right at home with that crew, bet not a one of 'em listens to rap music.;) Nice pics, thanks Raggy.

And there's the trusty AK ready for a chest draw. Pix are worth 1000 words, for sure.

Pete looks big enough to win the war alone.
