Auntie has graciously allowed me to design an H.I. T-Shirt.
I was going to do so to hopefully help raise some money for Bean.
But it seems that having these things made is a bit more expensive than i had anticipated, that is, unless i make a large order of 50 pcs or more. As i cannot afford to have such a large up front expense and have them sitting around, i decided to table the idea, at least until i can see how many of you would be interested in a shirt like this. The Black w/ white design is my favorite, but it could also be a Red shirt with white or black design. One design would have to be chosen at a time per order though.

I was thinking i'd like to get a few myself and would consider going to the trouble of taking pre-order at about $25 per shirt shipped. If i was able to place a bulk order the price would be around $15 per shirt. At these prices there would be little or no money raised for bean, but we could get some cool Logo T-Shirts and become walking billboards for H.I.
The Shirt is a quality hanes beefy-T. I didnt want to skimp and use a cheap shirt. The other T-shirts i could use are pretty much same quality and price range.

So, whatcha think? Interested? Good Idea or fuggettaboutit?

It seems like a decent tee shirt and the idea of selling HI tee shirts is a great idea. One idea that I would like to offer is something that I have found produces amazing results. I have seen common people who can make incredible videos for political candidates, promo videos for fighters, design themes and armor sets for video games etc. There are tons of talented people out there and I'm sure the HI section of Bladeforums has some. What if you had a competition to design a tee shirt for HI and have a poll for members to vote on the best design and the winner of the design contest gets a free tee shirt or free khukuri or something. That way you have more than your 1 brain for ideas. If there was a really bad a$$ HI tee shirt I would buy one.

I'll get a few. But I'd buy a handful of patches with cross khukris and HI on them or somethin? Two colors like black and tan or OD and black or whatever you decide. :D

I'd change 2 things, IMHO:
1) Have a 2 kukris design, like in the normal military emblems;
2) Have the site address in smaller letters, bellow the beautifull graphism;
3) Black, white and camo colours would be perfect.

For something like that i would need to discuss with Auntie further.
We already have our signature Salyan as the company Logo, which i've used in the design above.
The designing is relatively easy, compared to finding quality items that will not be costly. That is where the problem is.
Neither Auntie or i want to order a bunch of these only to have them sit around unsold.

I would buy two shirts for $20 each.

Thank You! The other $5 in my pricing is for flat rate shipping.

Thank you Lee!. I'm kinda looking at patches too. but embroidery is more expensive than screen printing and has larger minimum purchase.
Again it is a matter of people being interested in buying them, so that they do not sit around unsold.
Auntie already has crossed khukuri on some t-shirts for sale, unfortunately they have not been selling all that well.

In the design above i used our signature Salyan khukuri. I put the site address inside it because it looked plain without it and having the site URL below the graphic made the shirt look cheesy.

We could also do printing on just one side or have the front graphic made smaller and put on the left side chest area.
The thing is...whatever design is chosen, there must be sales enough to cover at least 20 pieces in order for it to be worthwhile and cheap enough..... that is unless one of you knows where we can get screen printing done to our satisfaction really cheap.

I like the smaller design on front left chest. Maybe even add the Nepal flag in the design, crossed with a khukuri maybe. It would be cool to add the kamis personal marks on the shirt.

More than 1 color increases price.
I could do a multicolor design , but the shirts would end up being 30+ dollars.
We could do a kami mark T-shirt on it's own, but i don't see it as an advertising shirt, but a novelty shirt.
Again there would have to be enough interest in it to justify it.

one of my issues is always size if the shirts don't come in really large sizes like 4x i am out no matter how bad I would like to have one.

The largest i can get is 3XL. Once you get above XL the price also increases.

I prefer these ideas to the large graphic on the front, especially the small logo. Crossed khukuris would also work. Put me down for at least one if you go that way.

I'd go for a 3XL.

The cartoon Gurkha from the Khuk Khonvention t-shirt was awesome also.

How about maintaining the large print on the back and put a simple Salyan/double Salyan crossing template on the left chest?

"Auntie already has crossed khukuri on some t-shirts for sale, unfortunately they have not been selling all that well."

Take a look at the HI T shirts advertised on the HI website, look at the bottom of this page: http://www.himalayan-imports.com/new.html
The shirts are embroidered and awesome, but I bet most have not seen them. I also bet they were sourced in Nepal which is why they were so nice for the price. Do you think bringing the original embroidered masterpieces back might spark some sales?

Unfortunately those shirts are a thing of the past. No longer for sale. Just as the H.I. signature ring on the website is no longer made.
There may be some discontinued items being taken off the website in the new year.
Also unfortunately, embroidery and even screen printing sourced in nepal has become rather expensive and then theres the added expense of having them shipped in bulk to Reno for sale. Back when those shirts were made, the cost was acceptable.
This is why i'm trying to find and acceptable design and have them made here.

Embroidery here is very expensive also. I designed an H.I ball cap on a good site and it had a minimum of 12 pieces.
The pricing for that was just shy of $500. Which meant the price for each cap would have to have been $35 - $40 shipped in order to make any sense.

I guess the big question is..... how much are you all willing to pay for a quality shirt or hat?
At this point i'm beginning to think i will design a few variations of shirts and those interested can contact me for prepayment.
I likely will be ordering a few for myself of one design or the other.

Here is another design i made this am. Slightly more expensive due to the design change, which means the screen printer must make a separate screen. Same thing with smaller logo on left chest.

If you could make up an HI T-shirts for sale Sig line, I would put it in my profile so it would show up on my posts. I'm sure others would also. This might help. I bought my embroidered shirt on a DOTD some time back. Didnt know other shirts were kept in stock.
