I am rather new with selecting knives. Looking for honest opinion of "BENCHMADE MODEL 14905SBT HK34 HECKER & KOCH AUTO AXIS FOLDER Knife"

Pro's & Con's...Thanks

Best Regards,

I don't have the auto model, but I can speak for the Q of the manuals. I have had 3 14210's and a 14205. These are very well made knives. The knife's design, the materials, the workmanship, and the AXIS lock all combine very well to make these real users, at least IMAO.

Mine have all held up very well. I carry a 14210 as EDC, I have a spare, and I gave one to a mate in WV last year that he's carrying. I use my 14205 when I'm in the woods and want a larger strong folder.

If they have a down side, it's just that they don't come as sharp from the factory as the Spydercos that I usually buy, but that's a minor issue because I touch up every blade that I buy except Spydercos. And once I get an edge that I like on them, the H&Ks will shave, whittle, and push cut with the rest of them.

Like I said, I can't speak for the autos because I don't have any, but a lot of people like the mechanics of BM's autos.

HTH...
