H&K Turmoil (Benchmade)

So I just bought a Turmoil. When I received it in the mail (I think I got it from Blade HQ) I was really impressed with the blade itself in profile and sharpness.

My issue is with the action. If you wiggle the blade a bit when it's open, it comes off the track and slides partially back into the handle. It also misfires about 1/10 or 1/20 times and comes 95% open but off the track. My biggest issue is with the bad lock.

I've only had 1 other OTF before this so I'm not an expert. Should I just accept this as OTF shenanigans and indicative of this knife/model or should I contact the vendor to get a replacement knife? I guess what I'm asking is if this is normal behavior for the HK series.

I solved the problem. It looks like it was dirty out of the factory. Last night I washed and rinsed it thoroughly and as of today it is locking up correctly. There is still a bit of play but that is normal for these types of knives. Thanks everyone!
 
Just received one from bhq.. Got about 1/16 inch play vertical and horizontal. She's a beauty but expected a bit tighter blade. Is this acceptable blade play for a Turmoil?

So quick update - this knife doesn't work anymore. It retracts just fine but won't deploy properly/lock up anymore. I probably should send it in to get fixed but the whole thing has annoyed me enough I am having a hard time finding the motivation. My Scarab clone works perfectly. Meanwhile, my Benchmade is broken.

Only hk i have is the mini axis folder ad it had bad front to back play. I sent it to benchmade and they fixed it but two or three days later , same problem. Great little knife but that problem is there. They are all discontinued if I'm not mistaken
 
I can also tell you that sending it in now will take some time. They are changing system so all repairs are taking a bit longer than usual

Well, I'm not active duty military anymore or a LEO, so I'd have to send it in from a certified merchant too. Honestly, the whole thing is a huge PITA and I'm considering just selling it to someone who might be able to fix it themselves.

This has been one of the most frustrating knives I've ever owned. I like the blade profile and the materials used but the damn thing doesn't want to work.
 
Sorry to hear that. It should lockup in the open obviously so you will need to send it back in.

Yeah these OTFs have a bit of slop in them.

Yep. It's inherent to the OTF design. Even Microtech OTFs have some play in them.
