Bought my first custom slipjoint last week; a stag barlow by T.A. Davidson. Now I am thinking, I need to sell some of my bulging production collection to buy some more customs! Been looking at Ohta knives last night. Does anyone have one? Do you like it? Got any pics of them?:)

While I no longer have any Ohta knives, i will highly recommend them. Doubtful, if you will find better craftmanship at his price level.

I have several. Outstanding value for the money as far as F/F is concerned. Just buy it - you won't regret it! :)

I bought a killer stag wharncliffe Ohta this past Christmas from Colorado Custom Knives. The photo of the one I purchased is on Ohta's page. It is razor sharp, blade is centered and a great all around user. The stag used by the Japanese is different than the USA stag. Can anyone give us any input on the foreign stag used in custom slipjoints?

Artdeg, so you are the one who beat me to that Ohta wharncliffe.:D I waited too long to pull the trigger on it. How is the stag in person, nicer than the photo?

Durbin: excellent knives/great price! I've owned two. Check Nordic and KnifeArt.

Here's three that I own and carry. Ohta makes a very nice, top shelf slip joint for the money.

I waited awhile before pulling the trigger also. The stag is like no other. I have samber stag and regular stag folders by case and Ohta's stag is in a league of it's own. When holding the stag handle I can feel the popcorn in my palm. I just bought some 510 paracord and put a Chris Reeves lanyard (hangman's noose) on it. I also carry it (front pocket) in a soft leather case that I bought with the knife.
