Hello. I just ordered a Roselli R200 UHC Hunter :). I think some members here own this knife. Would anyone care to share their impressions of it, especially if you've used it for skinning big game? That's what I'd like to hear about.

I have the Roselli erapuukko (same knife) in their standard carbon steel, which is made by Krupp. It holds an edge superbly and the Ultra High Carbon steel is reportedly even better at edge holding. Can't say how they compare in toughness, but the standard steel is plenty tough. These are forged blades, I believe, real working tools. The grind on mine is uneven, you can see the forge marks but boy, does it cut! Mine also has a gorgeous Arctic birch handle. I used it to field dress and skin a moose; the broad, sweeping blade makes it a great skinner but you have to be careful with the sharp, upswept tip to avoid gouging when you're opening the paunch or making the slits along the legs. It is also a highly useful all-round cutting tool due to the sharp tip. The sheath was another matter, though; it did not match the quality of the blade, so I made another but used the excellent plastic insert that came with the original sheath. The blade profile, incidentally, is almost exactly the same as on the Fallkniven H-1, although the Roselli is about 1/8" thick while the H-1 in VG-10 is substantially thicker, almost 1/4". I'd call that a case of imitation being the most sincere form of flattery:D .
