I am going to order a PE Ladybug to carry around as a small edc blade, but I cannot decide between the H1 steel and the VG-10 steel. I would just be using the knife for light use edc tasks and cost is not an issue because both knives cost the same. Is there any real difference between these two steels other than H1 does not rust?

^ Same here ^
In fact i have that combo. PE VG-10 for car keys and SE in H1 for work keys to cut zipties

I got an H1 because I wanted a yellow knife. I guess VG-10 would be a better steel for the Ladybug but I doubt it will get a heavy workout.

Edge retention isn't as important (to me) on a tiny knife therefore I would by an H1 first. I have both but I use the H1 Yellow much more. All Spyderco H1 folders need are frequent hot soapy water rinses and sharpening for maintenance, nothing else. My HI Ladybug is the only tiny knife I actually use a lot.
