Are there any tricks to regrinding H1?

Normally you have to keep the temperature below the tempering temperature, but since H1 is precipitation hardened (and work hardens), I don't know what the temperature limit is.

I also read something about worrying about warping if only one side is ground at a time. Since I'm thinking about regrinding a serrated blade (spyderhawk), I'd only be grinding on one side.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure about the warping, but it sounds plausible. If the side you're grinding is going to expand a little due to the heat and the other side is going to stay cool (momentarily), then you're going to get some (I don't know how much) inward curvature on the cold side.

I'd see if you could get in contact with Tom Krein. If anybody knows about (re-)grinding H1, it's probably him.
