Why are H1 folding knives Saber grinds
and not offered in FFG?

Surely there are more Spyderco H1 users out there who would like a
Pacific or Salt1 in a Full Flat Grind.

Excellent slicing abilities of FFG in a H1 package.

Anybody else wonder why too.

Or Am I alone?

As I understand it, it's a result of the properties of the steel. Apparently the edge is subject to a great deal of warping when H1 is flat ground. Doesn't have the same issues with a hollow grind.

Wait for the upcoming Spyderco SpydieChef with near rust-proof LC200N stainless steel (another high nitrogen & chromium and low carbon stainless steel) and FFG.

Not alone, just a bit late to the party. This has been asked and answered many times over the last 12 years.

My understanding is that H-1 can be full flat ground, but it has to be done so slowly and carefully that it's just not feasible in a production environment where time = money. So yes, it's due to the properties of the steel, but whether that's due to warping or some other issue, I'm not sure.

12 years and no fix or no interest for spyderco to do it.

Fair amount of interest. Usually dies out quickly when folks are told it would add $30 to $40 to the price tag. Time is money and hand grinding FFG H-1 blades would be very time consuming. IIRC, there was "almost" a deal 5-6 years back for a sprint run (or maybe an H-1 Mule) to be hand reground to FFG by Tom Krein. Cost was the deal breaker. If you want one bad enough, am sure you can find someone to do a regrind.

Personally, as much as I love FFG knives, I also love plain edges. H-1 makes for a mediocre plain edged knife and FFG has little, if any, advantage on a serrated blade.

From what either Tom or Sal said, when the blades are hollow ground, both sides of the blade are ground at the same time, so the work hardening isn't so much of an issue. When flat grinding, one side of the blade is done, then the other. Due to H1's work hardening, the second side to be ground becomes dramatically more difficult to grind.
