I found this axe in Southhern France and am looking for any info.

A 5pointed star inside a circle, with dots around the star.

Letters “GAI.G.S” below.

can we have a picture of the eye please? this might be spanish . because of the basquish shape and the name reminds me the name of spanish dogs "galgos"

i can not be sure, but to me it is not french. it looks biscaine like, but the eye does not fit "requirements", so i feel it might be portuguese. this seems to be a slip fit, although they put a wedged haft on it. All this is pure speculation and does not make one very serious connoisseur, a collection of feelings, if you will ...

My first thought was also "Portuguese", but I can't articulate why. Just a feeling.
