HACK question....from a n00b....

At first it didnt bother me, because I buy knives to use, not so much to collect...but does anyone else have this light colored stuff around the pins of the blue G10 scales?

I dont know what to make of it, is it glue?

It really isnt a big deal, but it tends to detract a little from the looks of the little knife.

I am pretty sure that it isnt just mine too, because in the pics that Jerry posted earlier, you can see it a bit.





I also have a tiger hide micarta one, and that one is flawless...


Any ideas?

Can you feel it, like it is on handle?

Or is it pretty smooth? Looks like the G-10 is scraped around the pins. I had it happen on one before. I really have no idea though???

If it bothers you send it back, Busse will take care of you.
 
It is as smooth as the rest of the handle.

As far as feel goes, you would never know it was there.

You can feel slightly that the handles are elevated a little bit where the pins are. I mean...BARELY though.

I am sure that they would take care of me...but if it was normal, I dont really want to hassle them or waste the time.
 
Oh its not going to hurt a thing about the knife. I just meant if it bothers you to look at. Some are kinda picky, many are not at all. I wouldn't worry about it, but thats me... do what you feel will make you happy.
 
Mine look like that too. I am guessing that the slabs got "sanded" a little when the person building it cut off and smoothed the pins holding them onto the blade.
 
It looks as though they have over peened the pins and put strain on the micarter it could chip out later on.

That makes a lot of sense. Never thought of that.


I guess if they chip out, I'll send her back.
