Hacked accounts of late?

I've been seeing posts stamped as 'hacked account' and also quite a few people asking for a proof of ownership (timestamp) from OPs, which is not a bad idea, i believe.

Has something specific happened and a lot of accounts got hacked? Any clues?

There've been a couple data breaches on various large websites in the last few months and that's resulted in members having their accounts compromised when they use the same password on multiple sites. This is why we recommend everyone use strong & unique passwords.
