Had a Close Call

I had a close call with one of my greatest fears. I reached for my pocket knife, my trusty Case 75 pattern, and when I retrieved it, I noticed a hole in my pocket!

While losing my favorite pocket knife wouldn't be life shattering, I would be quite distressed.

Here's the most recent pic of said knife, from a little gun & knife shoot I had a few days ago.

Glad it was still there. 😁👍

Nice rifle. Gotta love the early Winchester lever guns.
An 1873 reproduction? Steel 1866?
What calibure? .44-40? .38? .25-35? one of the .28's?
I'm not sure if they made it in .45LC.
The loading gate says "pistol cartride".
Do you have a revolver in the came calibure?

I am glad you did not lose it. It sucks losing a favorite knife.

I lost my first Rust Red GEC 09 Esquire many years ago while at the Dr's Office. While I am sure it fell out of my pants pocket while I was on the examination table getting prodded it was never found; at least that is what I was told when I called and stopped back in. I think either whoever set up the room for the next patient ( or the next patient?) probably got themselves a nice little knife in a nice soft leather slip. I do have a replacement for it thanks to the generosity of the forum members here.

It's a current production Winchester 1892 Deluxe Takedown Rifle, chambered in 44 Magnum with a 24" barrel, that has been refinished with period correct finishes by Turnbull Restoration.

It is just one of many blessings that God has bestowed upon me. I made a new friend a few years ago, and after a big payday, he offered to buy me a new gun; Any gun of my choosing. After careful deliberation, and because he suggested this as the model he would choose for me if he was going to surprise me with a gift, this is the gun I chose.

The above Case Folding Hunter was another blessing I had. I made a knife display board, and I showed it to a knife guy I know in town. He wanted it; I valued it at $80, and because of his discount where he worked he got them for $40 each; he swapped with me for 2 knives out of the Case display. This is one of the knives. I've carried it a lot in the last 2 years.

Ahhh ... I forgot the '92 has the twin locking bars. 🤨
(where the smack side of head or the disgust imoji when u need it?!?)
Fantastic rifle. Bet it is accurate, too.
Question:
Since chambered for .44 Mag will it also take .44Special for slightly more economical fun at the range?
Also ... How many whatetail (and/or wild boar) has she taken? 😁👍

Yes sir, It'll feed and shoot 44 Special just fine. It'll feed about any bullet shape (I've not tried wadcutters, as I don't have any); in 44 Special I use the RCBS 44-250-K I cast myself; for 44 Magnum, I mostly load the Ranch Dog 432-265-RF, also cast myself. It won't feed the Keith style bullets in Magnum cases due to too long overall length.

I've not hunted any with it yet, though I intend to.

Turnbull works their magic again. Stunning! I was wondering if it was such from the first pics and I saw that there was not the tang safety of the new Winchesters. Also knew that Turnbull makes those go away. Glad ya didn't lose your knife! Handled one of the new Ruger/Marlins yesterday in .357 and was impressed.

Jeans are in the queue to be mended before further use. I've never lost a knife, but I'm pretty mindful about it.

I much prefer the traditional half cock notch rather than the rebounding hammer and tang safety.
