for a week now, and that is long enough to know I like it. Tom Mayo designed a great one, in this 172.
Overall, the light weight and efficient frame lock design is great for me. I just slip it into my pocket and retrieve easily. The blade is thinly ground, just like I like it. It is a great slicer, I also reprofiled the edge to 18 degrees on my Edge Pro. I keep it hair popping sharp.
I have never had or handled a frame lock before, and was not sure I would like a metal handle. Well it's just fine now that I "eased" the edges and sandblasted the handles.
The Mayo will be a medium duty knife. I have plenty heavy duty ones.
This is a knife I can carry to my work, i don't think it will scare off shepple.
Oh, the blade not centered issue. Just to see if it would work I placed a .010" washer on the lock lug side and a .020" washer on the other side and it improved the position enough to make positive difference. It was not bad before, but this is an improvment. This knife is such a simple design, it's easy to work on.
