So, I am forever temporally misplacing my favorite gutting knife (knives of Alaska Cub Bear) when I set it down next to an animal I'm field dressing. To remedy this, I placed a bit of Hunter Orange paracord on it.
It worked well enough but today I made a nicer lanyard complete with an antler bead I made and sanded down from a small rack i had laying around the garage.
I think it turned out pretty good and thought I'd share. Thanks for looking .

That's nice. I just made made an orange lanyard for my new, black, RAT 1. I couldn't find a bead that looked good so still looking but it's OK without the bead too. The only knot I know so far is the snake knot but it looks cool.

Nice looking, simple, and effective I definitely like it.

That’s Bad ass man!!!! I’ll be blatantly copying thatt this season! (If that’s alright with you of corse) Thanks for the inspiration, love it dude!

Nice.

I added glow in the dark paracord to all of the knives I camp with or use in the woods. The cord I use looks like regular white 550 in light but does glow green in the dark. Enough for me to have found dropped knives a few times.

Don't rely on that for a guaranteed easy find too much, a few weeks go I made a small skinner with bright orange g10 handles in that same color, and I still managed to misplace that thing. Love the antler bead too.

Like the bead. The funny thing is that I normally would not. Maybe I am becoming slightly less cantankerous as I get older.

I have a couple of lanyards that sport a reflective thread running through them. Looks like a white thread woven into the cord until you shine a light on it. Works great.

I like the looks of that. I always see these knives with the orange scales and never really saw the need until I started hunting again a few years back. Now I definitely see value in adding the orange scales or orange paracord to a knife for easy location should you need to set it down. I have had a few experiences where I was field dressing game in a dark field and I would lose track of my knife. Most of the time it seems to happen when I try to reposition the animal and set the knife down so I don't injure myself during the process. When you go to retrieve the knife it's as if the damn thing has magically disappeared but adding the orange paracord would definitely make location much easier. The bead is pretty cool also.
