It all started out pretty innocently. My cellphone service provider phoned me early in January and said that I qualified for an upgrade, which meant i could select a new free phone. So i thought i'd take a reduced subscription, instead of paying full price and taking a free tv, digital camera, Playstation or whatever. The wheels started turning upstairs and i thought what about another Spyderco with the money i'll save over the next year....
So i phone my local dealer and ordered a Persian, which arrived on Friday. On Saturday i went down to the mall to collect it. It was a good day and I was a "happy chappy"
But then it got better... i went past an outdoor shop in the same mall (most shops were partcipating in a summer sale) and what do i see: "Spyderco Summer Sale" in the knife section!!! Well
Most of the good stuff was gone, but i picked up 2 Michael Walker lightweight liner-locks, a Dragonfly and a Ladybug II (with the Rescue profile) and they were dirt cheap, about 1/2 of what they normally cost around here. My brother-in-law was with me, so i gave him one of the M/Walkers as it was his 25th wedding anniversary. I can't tell you how happy he was about that.
So, I had a great weekend and made some good additions to the collection. Only down side was that I hadn't planned to spend that much. But like I said to myself, i would never get the stuff at those prices again.
