Had the local leather guy make me a new sheath. Pics inside.

It's a little larger than I would have liked, but it's definitely heavy duty and works well. Blade is very stable inside, doesn't move around, comes out easy enough but isn't going to come out on its own.

Also notable, I beat the ever loving heck out of this thing and it does very well. One thing I may do differently is going with a blem instead of a nice and shiny one. It's not going to stay pretty for very long! :p

Good news, I think I'd like another one so I'm keeping my eyes on the blems... longer and lighter would be real nice. Those Chiruwa Ang Khola get heavy after a few minutes of hitting something.

Side note, how do you guys sharpen these guys? I notice my other knifes have more of an edge while this edge is more forged, if that makes sense. Not sure that I need it razor sharp or anything since the weight's doing more work than the edge.

Read the sticky about sharpening. Also, a "village kukri" would be just the thing for dirty jobs.

Agree with DaFatKid. MANY great posts about sharpening the convex blades in the stickies. And KLVUK villagers are awesome for dirty lighter chopping tasks. Though the thinner blade geometry might make the KLVUK less impressive for large scale chopping than your CAK. Diffferent blades for different tasks... and that is how HIKV starts.

I'm gonna move this over to the Cantina for general discussion and out of Yangdu's showroom.

I just use the sandpaper, mouse pad routine myself. Doesn't take much and your correct in that they don't need to be shaving sharp to chop well.
