One thing I have never owned is a scout carry type sheath. When I got my Sneaky Pete, I don't know why, but that is the knife I wanted it for. I sent my Sneaky Pete off to Heber with 2 rules.

1. It had to be scout carry.

2. It had to be tight.

Outside of those 2 rules I just told him to use his imagination! To say I love it would be an understatement. I got these in the mail today around 2:00 and have not taken it off since! Fits my back end great and the sheath fits the knife nice and snug. Holds it in perfectly!

Sorry for the crappy pic but I had to use my phone! My actual camera and I had a disagreement and it lost!

That's cool man, thanks for sharing. I've been thinking about a Duke in a scout rig for next winter

I had no rational reason for wanting a scout carry sheath, I just always wanted one. I felt sure it would drive my back bonkers when sitting, but it actually is not bad. The purpose of it though is more for hiking and having it out of my normal arm motion way. I think it will work well for that.

I am intrigued by this carry method, but I worry about two things, one is someone stealing the knife from behind. I guess it is not a problem in the woods though. Second, re-sheathing the knife after use would take a lot of practice to not have to feel your way with both hands. But, there are advantages that might outweigh these cons. It is just a leap that I have not been willing to make as of yet.

Walt .. carrying it as he has it pictured, lends me to see that as more towards conceal under a jacket method ..

Very cool man, I do like the scout carry position if it is done right with a good sheath. Works great for when out hiking in the woods.

The only concern I have is that the best steel to use is warm steel. That seems like the "coolest" place to carry. Perhaps not many people live as far north as myself.

Yes, I see this methodology, and concur. But re-sheathing still would be difficult, IMHO.

Maybe with a kydex lined leather sheath? That way it could have a slightly wider opening but the kydex would guide the knife into place without poking the knife through the sheath?

I don't know, I think under a long-ish coat it would still stay plenty warm enough to not be brittle, and warmer than exposed on a side I think.

Good point. I carry mine in front they are almost body temp when I use them.

LOL, with my dun-lap, they are definitely body temperature when I wear in the front. My belly dun lapped over my belt and knife.

Good point mist, bigger target, protect the leather.

Hey just stumbled upon this and thought I'd share my recent project. I also was fond of the idea of a scout carry sheath and thought of using my existing kydex for my gi tanto. Overall it was very easy to do and everything should be able to be purchased for about $20
