I want to share with you guys the Large Mentor that Haebbie rehandled with European Elk and three wood layers in the middle. The woods are made of grenadilla (black), fernambuk (red) and black locust (yellow). Haebbie tells me this is in the German style. What I can tell you is the handles are a perfect fit for my hand. I'm very impressed with how Haebbie selected the left scale for its contour which allows your fingers to wrap around the handle similar to Buck's Ergo handles. Fit and finish is of course, outstanding. So here is Haebbie's stag Mentor:

Haebbie, Did you have to destroy a good knife handle inorder to do your modification? ;) Looks interesting. DM

Thank you , guys, for the kind compliments :) :) :)
it was not easy to find the antler that has the correct geometry
for the hand.

When I asked Gordon, what kind of handle he likes to have, he answers:
keep it simple ... and German. So I made him a knife that looks German
at the first view. The typical kind of knives in Germany has antler slabs
but other blades, so I had to create
one. And I think I managed it. ;)

No, David, I didn't have to rip a knife to dissect the blade. As you know,
I'm not able to do that. I bought the knife blank at the the ugly four
letter auctioneer.

Best,
Haebbie

Ahhhhh I like it!Looks very well m ade and epoxy will keep it together for even the hardest of use.

Herbert ,you have done a very good work.
Really looks like German flag, and it seems as done in tradition of the best old Puma knives, which are well-known all over the world.

Just for information because I was asked:
The used Antler slabs from Flat's knife are from European Elk.
That's the same as Red Deer aka Cervus elaphus. In Germany
we call it Rothirsch. Hope that helps.

Best,
Haebbie
