Haha, am I the only one who did this...?

Got my FRN Delica for almost a year now and its clip has already shown a little bit of wear out on the coating. Contrary to some other people who posted on the same issue in here before, I am actually enjoying the worn look of the clip on my Delica more because of that well-used/vintage feel out of it.. tonight I took it one step further... :p

Used a regular scrub pad for dishes, I scrubbed off the paint on the clip's edges and corners more to accent that vintage feel... 15% of the paint off and I like it... and then, heck, that scrubbing action was addictive.. hehe.. and so, what the heck, took the clip off and went for another 5 mins of scrubbing... leaving more or less 2% of the paint remaining on the clip now.. and it has a grey-ish tone on it... looks like a trusty and well-used accessory now and I feel as if I've got a new knife and I luv it!

Am I the only one who actually enjoy the worn-out look of the clips? Any one who is on the same channel? :D

errrm.......what?

you say you got your delica for almost a year now and only now has the clip acquired little signs of wear? dude, you're not using your knife enough! ;)

personally i don't mind scratched up clips, but i won't take it as far as to deliberately make it lood old

to each his own :)

Btw, I am just wondering if the silver clips and screws from Rescue 93, 79 or Native SS will fit on the FRN Delica, or their clips are all actually in the same size? If not, then which one will fit? Can I order them from Spydie directly?

Yep, just call up Spyderco and ask to order the clip from the orange Rescue Jr. Cost me $5 and it fits the Delica perfectly.

Hi

I to love the used look of a knife. I've never altered the knife to look used, but rather allowed actual use to work its magic on the blade, handle and clip.
My large dyad, that I use on the boat daily, has about half the paint worn off, and that knife is used HARD. both blades are scratched, spotted from where I removed rust with brasso, the tip of the PE blade squared off, etc etc etc. I would have to say my all time favorite knife though is my girlfriend's SE delica. This knife was bought new, from Stoddards in Boston, in 1995. It is the old style, with an AUS-8 blade, Zytel handle and clip. This knife has been through the wringer. My brother used it when he worked in carpentry and cabinet-making, I carried it offshore on a Gulf shrimper, when I worked at a nursery, and on the lobster boat. I had even used it to cut a place in a door jamb for a new deadbolt. And, just last summer, my girlfriend started working on a charter/party deep sea fishing boat, and she needed a knife. There was only one knife I would trust her with, and that was Spyderco. And what spyderco did she get? you guessed it. after going through my entire collection, and my brother's she finally decided on this little knife, as ugly as it was. It was like the scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, when Indy picks out the holy grail. :)
well, I ramble. I like used knives. :D

Just got a chance to try the Orange Rescue Jr.'s clip on the FRN Delica, it fits there but the size on the square area of the silver clip is a bit smaller than the Delica clip, so even when it is tighten the clip will still be able to move around to the sides. Just wondering if the Native's silver clip has the exact same size of the Delica's? Or even for the Native's black clip, read it from another thread that it has a different kind of coating which is like gun-blued metal?

what about heat coloring the clip. hand sand to 800 and slowly play with fire. the last delica clip came out greyish i guess the clip steel are different on the golden maded knives
