Hey everyone - I've been searching for ages to find a specific maker with no luck. I saw an ivory handled scrimshawed dagger in one of the knife magazines 4-5 years ago. It had 1930s gangster on one side (with a 1911 I believe), and a period correct sexy lady on the opposing slab in a nightgown holding a tommy gun.

I figured I would ask the pros for a little crowd sourcing help. I have the money to buy one of them in these later years :)

After some googling and ogling it very well could have been. I couldn't find the specific piece I'm looking for. It was a coffin or oval shaped handle and it had deeply swirling engraved bolsters as well. Very akin to Easler's gorgeous work, but i question if it was the same artist on the scrimshaw.

I doubt it was production, so get one made. While Russell Easler (and his friend and workmate Ron Gaston) are both gone, you can find makers who do similar work. Look to Linda Karst for scrim work. You might check out Terry Stepanik for the knife.

Try asking on The Engravers Cafe or on Engraving Forum. Somebody there will know the scrimshaw artist but many will ask for a pic.
