I have a vague recollection of seeing a polycarbonate hairbrush with a snap-in handle that became a cruciform plunge dagger when removed. I think it cvame from Cold Steel.

I haven't seen one and can't find one online.

Anyone have a clue?

Type into Google: Cold Steel 92HC Honey Comb

That should give you plenty to look at 👍

Untied Cutlery were the first to make them in the 80s, 90s. They came in black, neon pink, and neon yellow. The Cold Steel were a stronger version of those.

This type was popular in the 80's and is still -

Then there was the Al Mar Wild Hair -

It's interesting they haven't tried to make a better version of the middle one or brought back the Al Mar design.

Cool. But totally illegal in Canada as well. Any blade disguised as another item is illegal unless it is over 30 cm long. What a weird law.

Very poor choice of weaponry , IMO . But maybe better than nothing ?

Here's how to reinsert the "dagger handle " , so that it doesn't get stuck (and useless for SD) .

Check your local laws before buying
100% illegal where I am
This.

That's the California State law also, except that the "over 30-cm" allowance does not exist.

Weird indeed.
So that means a katana can disguise itself as a fugly hippy lamp and that's ok 🤣

Japanese sword collectors might actually be the reason for the over 30cm rule.

They have been somewhat vocal over the years pushing for exemptions for swords stored in shirasaya, the plainer storage scabbards. Sometimes the storage scabbards vaguely look like walking sticks, etc..... , and that lead to fears of people being arrested for "disguised weapons".
