I'm just learning how to sharpen knives and thinking about buying a sharpening system, Edgepro or Sharpmaker. It dawned on me that my wife pays $35 a pop to have her hairdresser sissors sharpened. Does anybody have experience in sharpening good sissors made for hairdressers.

Sorry about the spelling

Hair shears, if they are straight edges, can be sharpened perfectly on a couple stones and the EP.Have to know how they edges were formed and the angles involved.

Hair shears can get very complex very pricey, very quickly. But I sharpen a lot of hair shears on EP- Pro without a problem

if your wife's scissors have serrations on one side, this is why she has to pay $35. a pop. it takes a special sharpener to do these scissors. i used to sharpen scissors for a factory that made the inflatable bags dry cleaners use to press garments. one weekend i had over 300 pairs (i have done over a few thousand pairs in my lifetime if not more) so i have plenty of experience sharpening scissors of any knid, even pinking shears. with practice you can do smooth edge scissors in less than a minute for both blades with a set of these wheels along with knives or anything with a straight edge.
