Hairline Cracks in Desert Ironwood Scales

Good evening everyone. This is a set of custom scales I had made for my Benchmade 707. This is my most-used pocket knife that I carry around most days so it gets abused just a little bit. Recently I noticed these hairline cracks and I'm wondering if I should fix them with something like thin CA glue or if I should just leave them alone and be careful with the knife. I'm not sure if the cracks developed after the wood dried and shrank a little after the scales were first made, or if they were caused by me dropping the knife a time or two.

Should I even worry about repairing these cracks or should I just keep an eye on them and make sure they don't get worse?

And if I am going to fix it, is there anything other than thin CA glue to consider?

Thanks,
Matt

Well I got around to taking the knife apart last night. Turns out none of those cracks actually go all the way through the scales. I tried gently flexing the scales around the cracks to see if the cracks would open a little but they don't move at all. So structurally it looks like the scales are fine. I'm still gonna fill the cracks with thin CA glue and sand the scales a little more. Thanks for the advice everyone.

I would use tung oil, it's always helped reverse drying/cracking wood - it takes a while to soak in (if you use the all natural kind without thinners)

but, only if your ironwood isn't sealed with some kind of epoxy/resin

very nice ironwood, great material
