Share your photos and stories of your half face blades in use. Have not seen much on these awesome looking knives. Looks like some bad a** stuff, plus it's built buy a team guy. So let's see what you guys have and how you use them.

Great Scagel's ghost!

I feel like usage of that "knife" is always preceded by the phrase "watch this" or "hold my beer" and often followed by a trip to the ER. Even the 9 year old in me thinks it's silly. Probably would've been happy to spend an afternoon throwing it at a tree though.

I think I have gotten to the point where whenever I see any products that are designed, built, or endorsed by "Team guys," or SOF entities, I cringe. I have worked as a SOF enabler and have been organically attached with such teams over seas and I can tell you 99% of them don't give a flying @#$% what knife they have or use. It isn't even that often they use them for anything other than opening MREs and other mundane tasks. I always get a chuckle too when seeing the old "I was an operator, buy my products" shtick. Goes against the old "quiet professional" mentality the guys I know seem to stick with. It's all marketing.

Rant over.

Maybe its some sort of Picasso/Cubist thing.

marcineks' post #2 knife would be great for combat carry if doing a "klinger" and looking for a section 8. ;) Definite special ops official carry; wish I had one way back when.

This demands an explanation. Anyone?

"I have a weirdly-shaped bit of scrap after that last one. There's a lot here, but it's in a completely unusable shape - what should I do with it?"
"Call it a knife designed for tactical operators, offer no explanation for what use it has, and just grind it whatever way looks the dumbest."
"The United Cutlery approach? You're a genius."

Now that you mention it I can sort of see the outlines of other knives that were cut around that abomonation. Wouldn't that huge cutout section make it liable to snap?

It's $650 ridiculously-ground piece of shrapnel with a "chaos texture grip". It will never, ever, ever be put into a situation where it might snap until the significant other of the person that purchased it smacks them over the head with it for spending more than half a grand on the physical manifestation of a toddler's doodle.

Please talk smack about things more often. I am actually enjoying it.

It sort of reminds me of those African throwing knives. I've heard them called Hunga Munga or something.

$650 for a sharpened tool of some sort, with a pre-broken tip, uneven grind and one of the surfaces that should be sharpened is left unsharpened (arrow)...

Andy is actually a very down to earth knifemaker. He does like to make some creative designs from time to time with otherwise scrap steel. As to his background as a SEAL, he served honorably for years and deployed quite a few times, on deployment was where the handle "Half Face" came from, so why not use it?

While I unfortunately can't claim Andy is a close friend, he is an acquantance and a very talented maker. We have served with some of the same peolpe and deployed to the same sand lots.

As for the blade in question, he also makes some pieces for auction and for teammates that want something unique, perhaps this was one of those.

I just cannot see anyone actually asking for that particular 'design'.........I use the word design rather lightly.

How would someone describe that to the maker and actually receive what they had in mind?

I think a drawing in crayon was supplied...

^THIS, The majority of his blades at HFB look practical and well made however, the smaller karambit style/ self defense stuff he's made has caught my eye quite a few times. It's just I had a few Chris Reeves calling maaaa name :D
