Half Penny Bowie

Here's my latest. The blade is a San Mai of 1084 & 15N20 with a half penny guard of Damascus. The handle is of ironwood burl. The pommel wrap is of N/S.

Nice work, I really love the look of the blade steel. That looks about traditional as they come.

Was instantly transported back to yesteryear... and that is meant as a compliment.

I should have gone looking for knives, instead of dining at the Top of The Rock when last in Branson.
 
There is a lot to like about that one. I wish the fit between the handle slabs and the guard spacers was a bit more seamless.

The fit may appear loose but actually is tight & seamless. It looks loose as I beveled the matching edges intentionally so that should the wood scales ever swell or shrink slightly then the junction wouldn't have a sharp edge.

I didn't say loose. I'm sure it's nice and tight. In any case, I love the proportions and the look of it. Great job.
