Half-sized 110 question

The '55', so named because it is one-half of a 110 is US made. I have several of them due to arrive Monday and I will try to post a review for our Buck forumites. I do know that the standard knife will have brass bolsters that are radiused where they butt up against the hardwood inlays. Perhaps to better describe what I mean, if you imagine a circle laid on the handle inlay, the bolsters follow the arc of the circle as opposed to being straight like the 110 bolsters. With the clip blade and smaller size, the model 55 is the answer to those who have repeatedly requested a 110 to be downsized even smaller than the 112.

In our March newsletter, the BCC is offering those neat leather pocket pouches which also came with the BCC 532 a couple years ago.
These will nicely accomodate the 55 and allow the user to carry the knife in his pocket while protecting it from keys and coins and the like.

Another good thing about this knife is its price. Buck has a MSRP of only $48 on the knife so I anticipate that it will retail for as low as $28 - $30 after the sufficient supply hits the marketplace.
I am a bit surprised that Buck issued the 55 because it is sized very near a model 503. Of course, it has a clip blade and brass bolsters and that does give it more of a 110 appearance. Like all knives, the marketplace will decide if Buck is on target. I am looking forward to it!

Larry, I seem to recall reading that new radiused bolsters will eventually be introduced on the 110 and 112, too. Is that correct, and if so, does it mean that the new 110 will look kind of like this year's 111?

Thanks, -Alex

First, great news on the U.S. origin and outstanding retail price. Secondly, I think that with a little marketing and buzz it'll be a hot seller precisely because of the 110 nostalgia feature. Think about it, how many guys loved their 110 but no longer carry one because of the size and weight. I'm a desk jockey in an office and would feel foolish toting a 110 to peel fruit and open envelopes. But a truly pocketable 110 -- a knife that'll be a great tool AND bring back memories of my youth every time I use it? -- sign me up!
:D

the one in the 2ed link looks a lot like the new 111 ! to me... BTW : is that an 2002 year mark (!!!) on the blade????

humm... how about it any one?

gush Geo did you see also that there is no price on the one!!!
and it is the one i want ...not the brass one :( ...
hay larry O. is there any way can you get the nickel bostered one for club members ;) ??!!??!! please! :D

Well, its about time. ;)

Have been wanting something like this for quite awhile.

They are both really, really nice. I'll end up with both in my pockets.....
Though, a nice Club special edition would be cool...
Maybe with an exclusive steel, like the Cabela's 110?
