Half stops vs. no half stops

My Case Peanuts and Texas Jack have half stops. My Case Mini Copperhead, Mini Copperlock, Small Toothpick & Sodbuster don't.
Is there a reason for the difference in design?
Just something I've been curious about.

Thanks.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the search function is your friend.

Do an advanced search with the key words "half stops" and select search titles only. There are 2 pages of half stop threads in the Traditional sub-forum. The most recent being from January of this year:

Half stops, what are their purpose?

That said, I don't favor one over the other, but you can't beat the look of a pair of flush tangs IMHO.

It's how they were made years ago. Most of the time they try and stay true to how the pattern is supposed to be
made. But sometimes they use half stops when they shouldn't. Like a real Sowbelly should have only cam tangs. But most companies
use half stops for safety. But that's not how the pattern was designed.

Not taken the wrong way. :)
I usually do a search before I post but I was thinking about it and just started to type.
Thanks for the link.

I find I get "bit" a little less my cam ends. Half stops and a really strong pull (the kind of pull I much prefer), can some times give a kick bounce when they hit that half stop. This can often give a little cut when combined with carelessness and sausage fingers!

One thing I find, it may not be true, but half stop tangs feel like they "self clean" better to me than cam ends.

When I git dirt, or swarf, or junk in flat tangs with the half stop, I feel like the sharp corner pushes that junk out better, and keeps that tang/spring junction cleaner and smoother.

jeez i love that look of flush tangs. Such a good pic FLymon. I dont think you can really get a cleaner (and still functional) look than that.
