Is it INFI or A2? I'd personally prefer to have an A2 blade covered, it stains bad in my experience. Beautiful knife by the way.

Yup, its A2, i have a near mint SHSHII in infi, and a BBSHSH, i use the hell out of this knife and most of the coating was warn and the coating on these ols A2's is so think it causes alot of friction when cutting. Sorry if stripping her bothers some of you , but i use her and i was pretty happy with the way she came out. I've had other A2 survival knives and rust or staining never really been a problem.

Stripping never really bothered me for some reason.:D

Well since your halfway there are you going to go ahead and strip the rest of knife? Was the coating easier to get off the A-2 versus Infi?

Totally jealous--it looks great! Busse A2 must be better then. I've had rusting and staining issues with A2. Maybe it's super buffed/polished to close its poors:confused:

I'll go against the grain and state that I really like the two tone look, and I have always preferred the bare steel on the old school Busse's. :p :D

I've stripped a few of mine through the years and getting rid of the black glop make them both look better and perform better. The A2 will stain a little, but it only requires minimum upkeep.

I wasn't really worried about the staining, i use this knife daily to make my kindling and such, it just works better without the coating and i like the look of the half strip but i prefer the full strip on my women.

You aint kidding, its really slopped on those older blades. One in particular hid a nasty gouge on the spine of the knife, I know its not the reason for the thick coating but it does a really good job of covering those, er, oopsies.
