Hi all. well I've been using this knife In the Mountains for some weeks now, in fact about a month. It's more a tool as such but it can cut very well, especially ropes and cordage due to the repeating one deep two shallow concave blade pattern of the serrated edge Teeth, you can abuse the tip because there isn't on to break off and the rip saw back actually works like no tomorrow plus it can be used to cut fencing wire LOL, despite the gullet distance, ie the distance between the teeth is not optimal for barbed wire, it will work with practice plus without the right wire cutter tool/pliers or a dedicated wire cutting notch, it's very diff to break barbed wire with your hands alone. Anyway, yeah the ERK-01 TOPO (which I own) or the ERK-01 (black, ranger green dark earth) -same knife different color options; performs very well. Took it into the mountains. chopped, sawed, belted, cut wood, meat etc. As a fixed blade it will certainly take more punishment than a regular rescue type folder. Obviously, it's not designed to cut people free of seat belts, although it would be hard to stab yourself or someone else with it. The handle BTW is extremely comfortable even without gloves and for me one of the lanyard holes is of interesting diameter (5.8mm precisely-make of that what you will).
Here are some pics of just the knife. I won't sing my song for my YT channel lest I'm in violation of the rules here but I'm sure if you want to see it in action then a google search should work. Yeah so if you now want to be able to (yes, I know there are many other similar tools like this eg from TOPS etc.) lever with a knife which can actually cut well too then it's a very good choice I think.
Out backpacking with it
