HI all, just thought i'd put a few notes here on the Halfbreed Blades MIK-05P, this is their "medium infantry knife", I believe it first premiered around 4 years ago now being released made with Böhler's K340 isodur; that's simply a more refined (Via remelt technology) version of the K340 (which is a straight air melt). The knives I own which are made from K340 really rock so when i tested the Halfbreed Blades MIK-05P, in the bush, I wasn't really surprised by the great longevity of the edge retention; bashing it on seasoned ash and oak etc.

For a "military styled" knife with a pronounced tanto tip it actually rocks for field work. Push cutting, is like almost using a chisel and because it has only 2 straight edges, anyone can sharpen it very easily, with the most basic stones etc. I own the non serrated version, so of course keeping serrations sharp requires a rod and a lot more skill. :).

here's a few pics of this beast. I had it out hiking and camping over a bit over a week now.

here are some more "doing pics"

used it to gut fish very effectively due to the great point.

I kinda like the looks, but I am not sure about how comfortable that handle would be in hand during prolonged use. Barrell shaped smooth handles have been traditionally used in bushcraft knives for a reason...
