I posted this in the traditional forum a while back but I thought the folks in this forum might like to see it as well.

This is Jerry Halfrich's take on the Remington Hunter Trader Trapper (HTT). The original HTTs came in two sizes; Jerry scaled the larger size down to 4 1/16 for his pattern and made it a single-blade knife. I think Remington only made the HTTs for one year.

The swedged-blade is CPM 154 CM and of course it came with a wicked Halfrich edge.

The handles are elephant bark ivory. The ivory flares out from the bolster to the barehead and feels good in my hand.

Jerry hand cut the double bomb shield and it’s as smooth as glass when I run my finger over the shield and ivory.

After making lockbacks and straight blades, Jerry started making slipjoints a few years ago and seems to be getting better with every one.

Here's the magazine ad I sent to Jerry that he based the knife on.

Man, I love that blade profile, just so clean and crisp.

thanks for the pics.

That stunningly beautiful knife almost compensates for your avatar.:p

I musta snoozed at the keyboard when the thread in Traditional was posted. :D

Beautiful slippie ! Excellent escutcheon selection.

very nice knife but I think it would be improved if there was no escutcheon plate as the location of it so close to that big pin does not add to the aesthetics and flow of the lines of the scales. Actually, I'd prefer all the pins to be of equal size and if possible to be of the smaller variety.

That IS nice. Great looking ivory.

I handled some folders made by Jerry Halfrich at a show and they were consistently nice.

Thanks for the nice comments on Jerry's work. He has used some of Tony Bose's patterns and has learned from Bill Ruple and others, but he is also working on making his knives stand out on their own.
