What's a company that puts out a current model trapper w/ halfstops? Any companies with slipjoints $60.00 & under that have a selection that come with halfstops? Also, forgive my ignorance if this is common knowledge, but why is the can opener the only blade/implement on a Vic SAK with a halfstop?

Case Mini Trappers have half stops, but I can't think of any full size trappers that do... Doesn't mean that there aren't any though.

I always thought the can opener has the half stop so you can get some extra torque on the big screwdriver which is at the end of the can opener blade.

I think you mean the bottle opener with the large screwdriver rather than the can opener has a half stop. I believe it would be as brownshoe mentioned, to avoid it closing all the way when putting in the extra torque.

If you look around you can find a Great Eastern #73 for around $60. They have good half stops. They are a little heavier built than standard trappers.

Thanks, been eyeing Queen for a while but since I've never handled them I wasn't aware they do have half-stops.

FWIW i love the ones i have, and their schatt and morgan line also. but i'm just a guy with an opinion.... my new teardrop jack with d2 steel has a half stop.....
i got it from calrence risner at crisnercutlery.com, he has many to offer...
