Yesterday I was looking through one of my girlfriend's magazines and saw an ad for the boxed set of the whole Freddy Krueger Nightmare on Elm Street series of movies.

I looked at the famous glove prop and thought to myself, "hell, the kamis could probably make that glove real easily."

It would make for a pretty good halloween costume, though I wonder what the kamis would think of it. Probably not such a good idea though; not exaclty politically correct.

On a lighter note, perhaps they could produce a halloween special khukuri. So far I have thought of a carved jack o'lantern cho and a karda specially designed to carve pumpkins.

Any thoughts y'all?

Dave, it's completely daft. But that won't stop me from suggesting the even more stupid "Khukuri of the Month Club"! You will have to imagine what they look like yourself, and fill in the months I am just not creative enough for:

Jan cold weather khukuri
Feb president's day khukuri
Mar
Apr Spring Break special w/ bottle opener cho
May
Jun
Jul independance day khukuri
Aug
Sep
Oct world series / halloween khukuri
Nov election / thanksgiving khukuri
Dec christmas khukuri

I have no interest in buying any of these. It's just too wierd. But funny.

"Oh, a magic khukuri. Why didn't you say so?"

Jeff, a Khukuri of the Month club is silly.

I'm trying to hold it down to only one khuk a week ( from averaging 2 a week the last 3 months ) and the withdrawal symptoms are awesome.

Rusty I think you would be able to hold yourself to only one President's Day khukuri a year - I know I could.

Jeff,

One Khukuri of the month would have to have the "bottle opener cho". I guess it would be best on the Spring Break Special. Of course, It might be best if that model "looked" really wicked, but didn't have an edge.

The Independence Day Special would also need a flint or built-in lighter.

OK, the monthly thing might be a little overboard.

Since I didn't have one listed for april I put the Spring Break Special in there. The bottle opener cho is something I have thought about for a while, although I think it's safest to add the bottle opener to the chakma.

Sure Bill, take all the fun out of it

You know it was the SAK that spelled the end of the old 10 tool rigs. It may end up getting rid of the karda and chakma but I somehow don't think so.

:
What ??
The old SAK's had buttonhooks on them.
I'll be dayum-ed.

I think you're basically right, Bill, but some of the old SAKs had buttonhooks on them anyway. The multiblade knife craze started quite a while ago, fairly early in the 19th century, and buttonhooks were still available on knives for quite a while after few people had any use for them.

There are some SAK collectors online but they seem to hang out on rec.knives rather than the web forums for some reason. They have big flame wars over questions like whether corkscrews and leather punches are obsolete and should be replaced with something more useful in the modern world, like Torx drivers.... It would much easier to make changes like that in the small tools that come with a khukuri; at least you won't have to design a whole new knife if somebody wants a Torx driver instead of a chakma. You'll only have to make a custom sheath, and they're all custom made anyway.
