What is the best knife everybody uses to carve their pumpkins with??? Last night my Spyderco Ronin won that honor. As it is the big day we need a thread about it

Thinner the better. An old Dexter carbon steel boning knife for me. Wicked sharp and - truth be told - a little scary looking. Just right for Halloween.

used a swamp rat desert Jack... well did for most of it.

Haven't carved yet, but I'll probably use my Spyderco Military.
Long blade will go through a thick pumpkin shell, gets narrow toward the tip for fine work, and is thin & flat-ground, so it won't bind when it's sunk deep.

My son and I used a Sharpfinger and a Spyderco paring knife. The paring knife did a great job. Its sharp and flexible. A little longer would have been better.

The Sharpfinger did the job okay. The sharp tip worked very well to start the hole. It was a bit duller than the Spyderco and was much thicker so it wasn't as easy to use.

I use a reciprocating saw to cut the tops off - there's nothing better. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrippp! and the top is off. I've also used it to carve the face on the pumpkin, too - total carving time was under 2 minutes. Other than that I tend to use a steak knife and a vegetable peeler.

I like to peel off the outer skin and carve faces in relief - the tip of the vegetable peeler is perfect for this kind of carving.

I carved my pumpkin 3 days ago with my BM42...just because I had it on me when I was ready to carve...lol, I own an oranged handled pumpkin carver but I have no idea where it is...lol...

I prefer using a drywall hand saw. Tears through pumpkins like nobody's business. I also use a folding hacksaw blade which also rips right though pumpkins.

Those work well. I've used a filet knife too.

I use a small Martini/Rapala fillet knife, it is EXTREMELY sharp!
