Halpern Titanium Limited Edition Grips for the Spyderco Mule Team - Mule Projects!
So, I am proud to say that for the first time, I will get my review in, on time!
Halpern Titanium, the sole production handle manufacturer for the Spyderco Mule team knives, is back at it, with their new Limited Edition handles. Showcasing their skill with CNC programming, and their experience as an OEM manufacturer for some of the biggest names in cutlery and firearms accessories. The new Limited Edition scales are beveled, contoured, and have a nice checkering pattern over the sides. Awesome.
I have been playing with them quite a bit, and so I had already oiled a couple of the handles up.
But, I thought it would be nice to show the texture of the grips, before they were oiled...
And, here, you can see up close, the patterns made in grips, revealing the layers of material...
An image, showing the depth given to the scale, with the contouring and checkering, even in the same color, Coyote. As well, this image also shows the similarity in the dimensions between the Option 3 and the LE.
And the same, with Orange... Alternate to the previous image, this image shows the differences between the Option 1 and the LE.
Some images showing the 4 colors of the Limited Edition... From the top, Orange, Coyote Brown, Earth Brown, and Black
An image showing a few sheaths I made, for my Mules...
And, the image I always enjoy, showing all the different varieties, and demostrating all the colors... With my cord wrapped Mule thrown in, like a beefy arm, for good measure. From the top, Strider Cord Wrap, Pink, Orange, Coyote Brown, Ranger Green, Grey, Earth Brown, and Black...
Finally, as the amount of tang emerging from the cover the scales seems to be the hot button topic, I took three photographs that I hope are illustrative of the fit of the new LE scales. Though, I fear that may only demonstrate the limits of my capabilities with a camera...
Focused on the Ranger Green scales mounted to my ZDP-189 Mule.
Focused on the the Pink scales mounted to a China Mule.
Focused on the new LE grips, in Earth Brown, mounted to a Chine Mule...
I just wanted to close with a few words of thanks. I first want to thank Sal and the crew at Spyderco, for doing what they do, which I would have no chance of describing completely in the time available, but they have made this very cool project come alive, and I am enjoying the heck out of it. Second I want to thank Halpern Titanium, for allowing me to review their grips, what a treat it has been. Third, I want to thank my sheath customers, it has been a pleasure helping you enjoy your Mules. And finally, I want to thank you, the reader, for being interested in my photo reviews, providing feedback, and giving me such a fun outlet for some of the ridiculous energy I have for knives.
THANK YOU!
Kind Regards,
Marion
