Hammer Brand?

I've run across a few Hammer Brand knives lately and am a bit confused. Tang stamps read "New York Knife Co. / Walden NY" but the knives I've seen look in too good of a shape to be vintage.

Is that name being reissued by a modern knife maker now? I'm unable to find any reliable info on it.

Schrade did a run of nostalgia marked knives for SMKW back in the late '90's to early 2000's, before they closed in 2004. The stamp, as you describe, is done in an arch, not straight lines as the original back in the early part of last century. It is possible that the trademark owners, either Taylor Brands or SMKW, are making newer knives with the mark. Hard to say without seeing the knives. Here is one example of the mark I am familiar with.

I am pretty certain that Taylor does own the Hammerbrand mark, acquired from the auction of Imperial Schrade intellectual property in 2004.

Thanks, Codger. I'm betting these are produced under the Taylor brand you mentioned. The ones I've seen are a straight line tang stamp.

Here's an example I found.
