Hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone knows if there will be a hammer in somewhere on the gulf coast (west Fla, S. Alabama, S. Mississippi, New Orleans La.). One where visitors would be welcome to attend.

There is loads of info here on the site and plenty of people here willing to help out, which is great. I'd just like to see if I can stand around and watch and maybe ask some questions. There is nothing like seeing it done in person.

Thanks,
Rob

Rob, I pasted a facebook posting I got from the Southern Bladesmiths Page, this hammer-in is just North-West of Tallahassee.

"We will meet February 5&6, 2010 in Havana, FL for a Hammer-in.

John White, ABS Mastersmith will be the demonstrator.
Primary topic will be techniques for development of the hamon, working in W-2.
Secondary topics will be file work, forging and what ever else you can con him into.
It will be a heavy day on Saturday as John has to be back in his shop on Sunday.
Plan on coming in Friday for the traditional wings and beer at the Hobbitt.
More details to follow."

This may be a little far from you, but Johnny Stout is doing a Hammer-In in New Braunfels, TX (Between Austin & San Antonio). I just sent him an email for more info.

Rob,

Tracy Dotson is located in Baker, FL (Probably not too far from you).

He usually has a hammer-in each year at his place.

PM me and I will give you his phone number.

Also, in April each year, the Batson Symposium is held in Bessemer, AL. This is one of the bigger hammer-ins with talent galore.

Robert

sseib, thanks for the info on that meet and the yahoo group. I forgot all about those groups. I'll look into them.

Tx Bass Tech, yeah it is kind of far for me, but thanks for posting the info.

Robert, thanks. I'll send you an email. Yeah, I'm not all that far from Baker. The Batson symposium sounds interesting. Probably a 6 hr drive....

Thanks again guys
