Hand forged the head Wednesday, one week after stabbing myself in the hand. Wasn't to sure if I could do it but the hand worked just fine. The head is 6 1/2" with a cutting edge of 3 3/4" forged out of a solid bar of 1065. Its got a 19" hickory haft with a wagon wheel wrought iron butt plate.

Very nice Ray! You can't stop a good man! His shop can burn down and he impals his hand 3/4" deep on a knife and just keeps on forging! I have to fiqure out how do that type of stipling(?) on the handle.

Hey Brent, Did you figure out the stipling yet?

Ray I was going to say something about that stippling too. I suppose you did that with a burr on your flex shaft? You could always post a shot of that for us fans... I dig that hawk, that's just so clean it makes me smile. Thanks for sharing. Good luck at Blade too!

Dave, you are correct except I used HF type of Rotozip instead of the HF flex shaft tool. I've been having terrible luck with the last few flex shaft tools I bought from Harbor Freight. I need to bring this last one back and try again. Did you ever get that Fordom? I need to bite the bullet and get a goodone as much as I use that tool.

NICE TO SEE YOU AROUND!

Hey that's really nice!

I also think that stipling adds alot to the overall look of the hawk, not to mention I'm sure adding alot to function.

Ray I haven't sprung for the Foredom yet, but it's still on my Christmas list. Or Hey! - I have a birthday coming up, maybe I can lean on my family enough to get everyone to pitch in for me. Right. :D At my age I'm lucky if I get a card and a shot of tequilla. I've been keeping one eye on you guys from time to time but since I've been making "other than" knives, haven't had much to offer. I'll be back with something worthwhile eventually. My wife - believe it or not - has been missing my knifemaking too!
