Here's one just finished that is about to go out the door. It's a Montero done with the rustic hammer texturing. On this one the request was for Micarta instead of a natural material.

It's very difficult for me to get shots of the transition line. Here's a different angle using incandescent light so you can see it.

Here's a top down shot of the spine showing the hammer texture. Everything but the blade bevels are textured. It's more work but I like the way it looks and I enjoy doing it.

The textured blades have been gaining popularity for me. Here lately orders have been coming in for the Micarta handles too. The last three I completed had requests for black Micarta. I have one more on the bench that is going to get maroon Micarta. It's interesting to me how these little mini-trends occur.

That's just the right amount of texturing, Terry. Great looking knife.

Very nice job!

Flat out Rocks Terry..especially along the blade spine..your hammer texture has gotten more delicate and subtle..Congrats on a Beaut!

You just keep making great knives, Terry. The way that texture follows the spine is very cool. I'd just love to run my finger along that spine... :)

Terry, just go ahead and send that one to me. I know for a fact, the person who ordered it, is not worthy of such a knife. ;) :D

A working knife with just the right amount of style. Gotta love it.

I like the look. I was fortunate enough to pick Terry's personal camp knife up in December. At the time, it was make from the last of his 1084 stock. Since that has changed, and his supply of 1084 has been replenished, I need to have him do a matching hunter to go with his Primos Cajun Camp Bowie. Nothing wrong with the hammered, rustic look IMO.

canineforge,
Yep, I made that one for me. Those danged bills just never stop coming in so I put it up for grabs. It was in pretty much mint condition and it looks like you've been keeping it that way. Thanks for the pic.

That one had a little more agressive texturing. I also blackened the textures then dusted off the high spots for contrast. It has a textured and fired guard as well. Just to give you a little more history on it, that Walnut came out of Jerry Fisk's shop. He gave it to me a while back when I was there for a visit.

You're right, I did get another batch of 1084. Really good stuff. It's the size I use for my hunter-sized blades. A rustic hunter would go nicely with your Cajun Camp Knife. :D

Thanks for the additional information, Terry. I think the 1084 hunter to compliment this is a given. :)

To update since my last post here...not only did I follow through and order a matching hunter, I received an e-mail today from Terry that states he has my rustic hunter completed!
I purchased the Rustic Cajun Camp knife from a purveyor, so this was my first contact with Terry on an actual knife order, and not only do I appreciate the speed with which he produced the final product...his correspondence through the whole process was outstanding. Each step was relayed by e-mail. I am sure those of you who have worked with him knew this, but I just wanted to post my sentiments.
The knife is off to the sheath maker. When it gets in my hands, I will post a picture.
Thanks, Terry.

Terry,
Nice texturing, looks to be a great user and  how ya' used incandescent light to show the hamon.
CF,
Awesome camp knife. And congrats on your matching hunter.

Here is the new rustic hunter and sheath, with the Cajun camp knife that was Terry's. Terry was great to work with on this one and I am very pleased with the result.

Very nice pair you now have, canineforge! I love my Mini-Montero that Terry made a while back - one sweet little knife. Plus Terry is a gentleman and a class act all the way, as you point out.

Terry - The micarta goes really well with your style. I must admit I love micarta as a handle material. It can be very beautiful and it doesn't 'move' or shrink like natural materials do - a factor for me and others who live in dry climates. Something about it feels good in the hand, especially when given a little shape - palm swell, finger grooves or whatever. I like it.
