Hammer Thong or Strap

For carrying a 4" barrel revolver on day hikes in the mountains, including a little bit of scrambling, would you prefer a holster with a hammer thong or a retention strap? I've had the straps, but the hammer thong looks cleaner, so I was wondering how it functions compared to the strap? Any comments or opinions?
Thanks.

Mustn't say it.... Cannot resist....keep fingers still..... STOP

HAMMER TIME!!!

Why not?

I have and use both, get which one you like the best, both are secure as long as the thong is properly adjusted. Chris

I've found that a strap works better for me. Even toted a Ruger GP-100 4" on a little trad-climbing/camping trip with no problems (in a wallyworld Hunter holster no less) Had a COWS holster with thong, but never trusted the thong to mean old Mr. Gravity. Something to think about anyway...:)

Thanks people. I always find the input here useful...although doesn't Hammer Tiime have something to do with a guy in baggy pants who didn't wear a gun or hike much? :D
