This is not a review of the RTAK knife ... that will come later after my trip to the 'glades. This is just a review of my experience in getting the RTAK.
Once I decided I needed one, and started shopping around I realized wait times were long in some cases and neither Jeff nor Newt take AMEX on their web-sites. Sure I could have sent a check or MO, but, I like to use my AMEX. In the Dealer section of Exchange on BladeForum I found a post by HammerHeadKnives regarding both an RTAK and an HKR. A quick jump onto the web-site http://www.hammerheadknives.com and I was rewarded with that little green icon that makes me happy (an AMEX logo). A quick email to glockdad@aol.com to confirm availability ... which was answered in 45 minutes and WHAMMO order placed.
My initial email was 4/18 and true to his word Roy (Sgt. Roy Reynolds) shipped my RTAK on Friday, which I received on Tuesday.
1- His price was Fair, no, better than fair
2- His packaging, shipping was done Right and he shipped ON-TIME
3- HE DID NOT CHARGE ME A PENALTY FOR USING A CREDIT CARD, EVEN AMEX!
I find this last point to be the most important. I know CC companies charge between 3-5% and most of you dealer types pass this 'premium' on to your customers, but, you also don't have to deal with bounced checks, etc. I own a business and do not charge my customers this fee. I am not judging anyone for doing so, I am just recognizing Roy for NOT doing so which is what I do myself. I believe in voting with my wallet and next time I need another knife I will go to HammerHeadKnives again. I recommend YOU DO TOO!
On top of the fact that Roy came through and was true to his word, he was VERY POLITE, PROFESSIONAL. I understand Sgt. Reynolds is now Lt. Reynolds and I can see why a person of such character as Roy has been recognized by his peers. Congratulations and Thank You! It was a pleasure to purchase from Hammerhead Knives!
