I had the privilege of meeting Jim Hammond at the Guild Show last weekend. I was facinated by his NICE folders. He does fantastic hollow grinds and builds one hell of a knife!!

It's a Vanguard model, #5 of 10. Les and Jim REALLY came up with a winner as far as I can see. This knife has a fantastic grip, probably the most extensive micarta contouring I've ever seen, outstanding grinds and PLENTY of blade!!

I mentioned the folder to a good friend and customer of mine. He said I COULDN'T live without this one :D

Specs: 11 1/2" Overall, 6 3/4" double hollow-ground, double edged (6 1/4" sharpened bottom edge, 5 1/4" top edge) tapered tang, 440V.

We all love giving you accolades for your work, as it deserves such!

But it is REALLY refreshing to hear you praise and even purchase another maker's work. If a maker isn't excited about great knives--of ANY origin--then there's a little spark missing... Not here!

Congrats to you and Jim and Les for a beauty! You're right, it's super!

Nice! I'd really like to see some more of Hammond's designs. Although, they seem very simple, they also look very utilitarian.

My kind of knife. Beautiful but leaving no doubt about what the knife is designed for. Great score Neil.:D
 
Great looking knife. Is this design a collaboration between Les Robertson and Jim or does Jim have sole authorship?

I got the knife from a friend. That would be a question for Les!

I couldn't bring myself to using it last weekend. I have a rather beat up Strider that goes along on swamp excursions. I think the Hammond is going to be a safe queen at least for a little while :rolleyes:
