I got this knife today at the local gun show, the guy said he bought it at the Busse booth a couple of years ago at Indy. It is just like a Active Duty, but with a much larger choil, it is the normal .159 thick. I Pictured it next to my Heavy Duty.

Have to agree with Evolute. I think some of the early ones had larger choils. But what do I know. Mike?

i recall a 3rd party customized active duty with a larger choil like that - but it may be a custom shop mod.

i dont remember seeing any other then that 3rd party one though...

Nice grab Porkducci:thumbup:It just jumped off the sellers table at ya:-0

Yep, nice score, Porkducci!!!

Did you get a good deal on it, or did it run ya' current market value? ;)

one of these was spotted here in Alabama at a gun show some months back by MikeH, I remember him calling me and telling me about it and wandering if i was interested in it,,I cannot remember the price, but i think it was a a pretty reasonable at the time.. but he was telling me about that enlarged choil, but wasnt for sure if it was actually done at the Busse shop, so i decided not to get it because of that...but i'll surely kick myself for passing it up now if i knew it was done at the Busse shop.

by the way Tim,,that may of been the same dealer that was here in Alabama that you bought it from.

MikeH will surely be along shortly and mayby he can tell if it was the same one that he seen here.

seems like he said the dealer was asking about $325 for it.

I don't remember any of the ones thru me that were like that. If it were, it would not have made it to the table... (oink)

If you look at the radius, it looks like an aftermarket mod.

Like I said, The older guy I got it from said he bought it new at Indy three or four years ago and never got around to using it. I looked at it close and the grind lines (fineness of the grind grain in the choil radius) looks to be exactly the same as around the rest of the spine. The knife is in perfect condition with no marks on it, I could be wrong, but it sure looks like it came from the shop this way. There is no "inside joke", I was just asking Hammy what he might know because he sells at the Indy show.

Dunno. I don't remember any like that, but I've had some brain cells killed off since then too....

The guy who had one at the Montgomery show said that he had special-ordered it that way from Busse Combat. He did not seem to know much about Busses in general, though, and I was leery of it at that price. It did appear to be factory work, however. If a later alteration, it was very well done.

Bahhh.........someone just dozed off at the grinder that's all, so now it's unique!

It looks like about the diameter of a JWB bottle neck, that must have been the look that Jerry was going for!
