Hi, I just finished this up. Blade is 10.5" (16" overall) water quenched W-2. Guard is heat blued twisted w's Damascus, handle is mesquite.

THanks for looking, feedback is appreciated. -Justin

Very nice blade:hamon:guard on this piece. I have to add that the handle looks "soft"near the pommel end. To me it seems a bit too rounded, and has lost the crisp features seen near the guard. It draws my eye away from the rest if the knife for some reason, but could just be aesthetic as it does look like it would be comfortable in hand. Much better than anything I can do at this time though!

Thanks guys!
Kyle I am a big fan of your work, and your kind words mean a lot to me, thank you.

"Cuts" Thank you, I will definitely keep that in mind, and I appreciate your taking the time to tell me what you think. I wish people would give criticisms more often, they don't feel as nice but in the end they are what help us improve as makers.
Thanks again, Justin

Looks good. Blade profile, overall proportions and fittings very nice.
Handle looks good but hard to take in the shaping from the photo angles.:thumbup:

Thank you. I would say that if anything the "crisp" of the handle, making it look like it goes into the guard flat on the sides is a bit of a trick of the light. It is flattened on the sides there but is softly rounded into the top and bottom, and matches the rear of the handle. It is quite comfortable, and fits the hand very well. Overall I believe it is very difficult to judge a knife well from just a photograph, especially when I'm the one taking the picture.

Hi Justin, I think that's a cracker. Awesome lines and looks like it would be very comfortable in the hand.

Congratulations too, you win my first post on this place after over a year of lurking around!

Cheers....Pete

Great piece Justin! Awesome hamon and a nice mix of materials for the furniture.
Cheers Keith
