Just finished this one up today. Blade is 12" of clay hardened 1095. Mild steel guard and pin. The handle is Oregon maple burl from Burl Source. I kind of wish it wasn't sold so I could play with it a little while.

Beautiful Chopper Mike.
I don't know how I missed seeing this before now.

Now you need to make another and not tell anyone so you can have your fun with it for a while.

I really love the contrast on this one, great lines too.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but the mailman just delivered this stunning package to my office!

Mike brought this one to Atlanta to display on his table and I believe took a couple of orders for similar knives.
To anyone who placed an order and to future customers, you will not be disappointed.

The blade is a beefy 5/16" at the guard, with a beautifully executed distal taper to the point - putting the balance right at 1.5-2" in front of the guard.
Fitting of the guard is spot on and the contoured handle is very comfortable - should make an excellent chopper!

This is the second knife I've received from Mike, the first being brut-de-forge, as well.
I know, there are those here who do not like this finish, but I really like it.
You can pretty much beat the heck out of the knife and Flitz it back to new!

The prolonged delivery was due to the original sheath being sold with another knife but Burt Foster was nice enough to build a replacement - "thanks" Burt.
And "thank you" to Mike for crafting such a beautiful knife and all those who may happen upon this thread - place your orders now!

Thanks for the feedback Michael. I'm glad you finally got it! Good thing for you I lost the sheath since I'm sure Burt's is much better than mine. Thanks also for letting me display it at Blade. It got a lot of good feedback and allowed lots of folks to handle more of my work. That is one of the knives that I will have to make another of because it felt so good in my hand.
If you get a chance to snap a picture I'd like to see the sheath that Burt came up with.
Happy Chopping!

glad you brought this one back up, somehow I missed it the first time.
Beauty work, Mike- as always!
