Just recently unearthed a nice pile of w2.. wanted to do something akin to Conan Father Sword or maybe the sword of Buliwyf from 13th warrior. but with hamon.
I wonder if, given the dual edged nature if that would add some difficulty to the mix? That which would be the back on a katana is now the center. So i would be claying both sides of the center.

Any thoughts?
didnt find any images on google to assure me it could be done..

I've seen daggers with hamon's. So I suppose it's technically feasible. I've never done anything like that though, so on a practical level I'll defer to those who have.

can you post some images of sword blades please? that looks quite nice!
I don't have any double edged sword examples handy. I've seen it on fairly large daggers so it should be possible. I'm not saying it'll be easy.

It is all about heat control and quenchant speed.
Use a bit thicker clay on a double edge blade.
Use a lower austenitization temp.
Use a fast quenchant.
Use a thinner bevel thickness where you want the hamon (hollow ground is a good idea)
