Just finished engraving this extra large Cold Steel Espada. I gave it a "split personality" with classic style on the front and a more contemporary style on the back. I was wondering which style you might like best?

Thanks for your input!

It's absolutely beautiful, you did an amazing job. I'm more a fan of the classic style btw.

Sorry to not be definitive in my answer because both are absolutely terrific!!!

Beautiful work as always sir!

I like them both! If it was my personal knife I would prefer the classic engraving. For me it just "fits" my personal preference on the overall look of the knife as a functional show piece.

Cheers,

Tim

Looks awesome!

I prefer the classic style as well. It's extraordinarily well made.

If I were to criticize anything, it'd be the contemporary side/star burst -- it looks like it could either use some more depth or shading, and/or more details..

Great work though!

Thanks for the nice comments!
Bigfatts- too many hours! Deep relief engraving is very slow and tedious, especially the background removal. Worked for several days on this and straight through the Superbowl! (good thing it was boring)
jac_solar - you have a good eye! I ran out of time because my client wanted it by Monday morning to take on a trip. I actually had my design worked out to include some cool tapered inner lines within each star point. They may get added eventually!

Cool! Do you happen to have a sketch/drawing of that design? :D

All I know is, Lynn better be happy with that piece. She looks great! And I too prefer the "classic" style
