This is an Apothecary knife.

It was used for cutting and chopping herbs, roots, and barks for medicinal purposes in the days before Pharmacists as we know them now.

The blade was forged from a round bar into a leaf shape and then I hammered one side down and into the shape I needed for the design. The overall length is 6 1/2" and the handle is ebony with German Silver furniture. Notice the lack of plunge lines? her blade was convex filed from the tip back to the handle and then down to the edge. This makes the spine profile clean and stable from the tip to the butt end of the knife.

Any comments you may have would be appreciated.

Thanks,

It's a cute little fellow. Yes, I like it, too. Looks like something you can twiddle around your forefinger.

That thing is simply awesome...I love it.
Not a common design you see everyday....this makes it a nice piece in my book.

Thank you for the kind words.

I think I should have used something better for scale.
That bill is large compared to a standard note and it
makes the knife look tiny.

Will, thanks for the picture.

I gotta say, I think this is one of the nicest small fixed blades that I have seen. I love the overall shape and the shape of the blade. This really looks like a useful design. Damn, I really like this knife.
