Who do you recommend for a hand forged hunting knife?
I'm looking for:
- Good quality steel
- Hammer forged rough finish w/ nice polished bevel
- 4"-5" blade
- Decent belly for skinning/gutting but good point for piercing as well
- Good quality leather sheath
- Nice Dark wood or antler handle
- Under $300

Something that won't break the bank since it will be strictly a hunting blade but nice enough that I can hand down to my future children and they can do the same.

Have you looked through the "fixed blade" section on the exchange. Find someone's work you like and maybe even contact him if need be.

I tried sending you a private message but apparently you have them turned off. I posted a San Mai Skinner that I'm currently making a few similar pieces for some users on here, might be something you're interested in and within your price range, but there's some really awesome folks posting great pieces in the fixed blade section as Cody pointed out. You'll easily find someone that matches your idea. Good luck!

Cody gives good advice regarding the forum's maker's exchange.
You can find a good forged hunter in the $200-$300 range.
